Meaningful Measurement

One day Masterclass on “Meaningful Measurement”

Escape the clutches of the Credit Crunch

Steve UnwinIn these turbulent times the effective use of measurement is increasingly important. Poor measurement isn’t simply effort wasted, it leads to poor decision making, poor performance and ultimately risks the survival of your organisation.

In partnership with London Excellence Steve Unwin will run a masterclass on the topic ‘Meaningful Measurement’.

The emphasis of the masterclass is on the word meaningful.

Measures provide the senses through which organisations see and understand their world. This world is increasingly complicated, fast changing and interconnected. If the way we use measures doesn’t reflect this reality we may find ourselves measuring the wrong things, at the wrong times, in the wrong ways and drawing the wrong conclusions.

In this workshop Steve will invite you to explore what measures are and what it means to measure.

  • We’ll discover how measures deceive and lead us astray.
  • How we can avoid seeing what we expected to find, and instead see what it’s important for us to discover.
  • How measures become disconnected from the actions they were meant to support.
  • We’ll explore how measures can appear in many forms, from the six decimal places of a financial report, to the intuition that guides the most important purchase we make, our home.
  • Along the way we’ll share lessons from diverse sources such as the law courts, the surgery, accident investigation, the arts, the latest business thinking and elsewhere along with the lessons we’ve each learned through experience.

The workshop aims to give you new ideas, remove some of the old ones and for you to be inspired to make a difference.

If you feel; like a rabbit caught in the onrushing headlights of the Credit Crunch, this could be just the thing to break you free.
